Major Curtis D. Feistner, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was killed on 22 February 2002 in an MH-47 helicopter crash at sea, near Mindanao, in the Southern Philippines.
Feistner was commissioned in the Aviation Branch after graduating from the U.S. Military Academy in 1990. After flight training, he served with the 214th Aviation Regiment, Barbers Point, Hawaii. In 1995, Feistner completed Green Platoon and was assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In August 2000, he assumed command of Company E, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Republic of Korea.
MAJ Feistner was supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM-PHILIPPINES at the time of his death.
