SFC Peter P. Tycz II

A native of upstate New York, Sergeant First Class Peter P. Tycz II was killed on 12 June 2002 when the MC-130H he was on caught fire and crashed on takeoff from an airfield about 35 miles southwest of Gardez, Afghanistan.
Tycz joined the Army as a Fire Support Specialist in 1988 and transitioned to the Army Reserve in 1990. He served with his reserve unit in Operation DESERT STORM. In 1993, he went back on active duty and in 1997 graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
SFC Tycz was a Team Medical Sergeant with the 3rd Special Forces Group in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
