Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, Corporal Mark A. Bibby died on 21 July 2003 when his vehicle was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device in Baghdad, Iraq.
Bibby enlisted in the Army in 1997 as a Chemical Operations Specialist. After completing Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training he was assigned to 27th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In 2001 he joined the U.S. Army Reserve and attended college at North Carolina A&T University.
CPL Bibby was assigned to 422nd Civil Affairs Battalion, Greensboro, North Carolina, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM at the time of his death.
