SPC Ryan P. Long

A native of the District of Columbia, Specialist Ryan P. Long died on 3 April 2003 of wounds sustained when a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device detonated at a checkpoint southwest of Haditha Dam, Iraq.
In 1999 Long enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following completion of Airborne training in 2000 and the Ranger Indoctrination Program, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia.
SPC Long deployed with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment on Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and was supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM at the time of his death.
