A native of New Hampshire, Master Sergeant Richard L. Ferguson was killed in a vehicle accident on 30 March 2004 near Sammara, Iraq.
Ferguson enlisted in the Army in 1976 and soon after volunteered for Special Forces. After graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he served for over two decades with the 10th Special Forces Group at Bad Toelz, Germany, and Fort Carson, Colorado.
MSG Ferguson was assigned as a Team Sergeant in 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM at the time of his death.
