SGT Dustin M. Adkins

A native of Finger, Tennessee, Sergeant Dustin M. Adkins died on 3 December 2006 in Haditha, Iraq, while supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

Adkins enlisted in the Army in 2003. After completing Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Advanced Individual Training as a Dental Specialist at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, he reported to the 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

SGT Adkins was assigned to Group Support Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, when he sustained fatal injuries after the U.S. Marine Corps CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter in which he was riding made an emergency water landing in western Al Anbar Province.
