A native of Turlock, California, Sergeant Dale G. M. Brehm died on 19 March 2006, from wounds sustained on 18 March 2006 when his unit was conducting combat operations in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

Brehm enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in February 2001 and completed his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

SGT Brehm completed the Ranger Indoctrination Program in October 2001 and was assigned as a rifleman, grenadier, and team leader to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served until his death.
