A native of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Scott W. Dyer died on 11 October 2006 in Banditemur, Afghanistan.
Dyer enlisted in the Army as a Cavalry Scout in 1987. He completed the Special Forces Qualification Course in 1994. After several deployments, Dyer graduated from Warrant Officer Candidate School in 2003.
CW2 Dyer was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, when he sustained mortal injuries in a combat action during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
