SSG Clinton T. Newman

A native of Midland, Texas, Staff Sergeant Clinton T. Newman died 13 February 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle north of Deh Rawood, Afghanistan.
Newman enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in July 1997 and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. In June 2001, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve and graduated from the Civil Affairs Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
SSG Newman was assigned to the 321st Civil Affairs Brigade, San Antonio, Texas. He was deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
