A native of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, Staff Sergeant Patrick F. Kutschbach died on 10 November 2007 from wounds suffered in Tagab, Afghanistan, while supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Kutschbach enlisted in the Army as a Special Forces Candidate in 2003. He completed the Special Forces Qualification Course at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 2004.
SSG Kutschbach was assigned as a Weapons Sergeant to 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, Stuttgart, Germany, and was fatally wounded when his vehicle was struck by a rocket propelled grenade and small arms fire.
