SGT William P. Rudd

A native of Madisonville, Kentucky, Sergeant William P. Rudd died on 5 October 2008 in Mosul, Iraq from enemy small arms fire.

Rudd enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in October 2003 and completed his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, and the Basic Airborne Course, at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following graduation from the Ranger Indoctrination Program he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as a rifleman, grenadier, and team leader.

SGT Rudd was on his eighth combat deployment with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM when he was killed.
