A native of Jamestown, New York, Staff Sergeant David W. Textor died on 15 July 2008 during combat operations in Mosul, Iraq.

Textor enlisted in the Army in 2002 as an Infantryman and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After serving in 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, he graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in November 2006.

SSG Textor was assigned as a Weapons Sergeant to 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Washington. He was supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM when he was killed.
