Born in Mainz, Germany, and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, Staff Sergeant Anthony D. Davis died on 6 January 2009 from wounds sustained in combat in northern Iraq.

Davis enlisted as an Infantryman in the Army in October 2000. After graduating in 2001 from the Ranger Indoctrination Program, Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

SSG Davis was serving as a team leader on his sixth combat deployment with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, when he was killed during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
