A native of Somerville, New Jersey, Staff Sergeant Andrew T. Lobosco was killed in combat on 22 August 2009 near Yakhchal, Afghanistan.
Lobosco enlisted in the Army as a Special Forces Candidate in January 2004. After completing Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, and the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, he graduated in January 2007 from the Special Forces Qualification Course at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
SSG Lobosco was assigned as a Medical Sergeant in 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, when he was killed. He was supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
