A native of Libertyville, Illinois, Specialist Joseph W. Dimock, II, was killed on 10 July 2010 at Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan, by an explosion at an ammunition holding facility.
Dimock enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in August 2007. On graduating from the Ranger Indoctrination Program, Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.
SPC Dimock was serving as a rifleman in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment when he was killed while supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
