SFC Lance H. Vogeler

A native of Frederick, Maryland, Sergeant First Class Lance H. Vogeler died 1 October 2010, of wounds sustained from enemy indirect fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Vogeler enlisted in the Army as an Indirect Fire Infantryman in May 2001. He served for nine years with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

SFC Vogeler graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program in December 2001 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He was serving as a mortar section leader at the time of his death.
