A native of Huntington Beach, California, Staff Sergeant Kyle R. Warren died 29 July 2010, of wounds sustained in the detonation of an improvised explosive device while conducting a combat patrol in Tsagay, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Warren enlisted in the Army as a Special Forces Trainee in October 2004. After completing his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
SSG Warren graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in October 2007 and was assigned as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant to 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, where he served until his death.
