SSG Michael W. Hosey

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Staff Sergeant Michael W. Hosey died 17 September 2011, of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Hosey enlisted in the Army as a Cryptologic Linguist in 2001. His first duty assignment was with 304th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

SSG Hosey was assigned to Headquarters Support Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group at Fort Lewis, Washington in 2005. He was serving as a Special Operations Team member at the time of his death.
