A native of Weatherby Lake, Missouri, Staff Sergeant Jeremy A. Katzenberger died 14 June 2011, of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Katzenberger enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in October 2004. He served for seven years with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

SSG Katzenberger graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program in April 2005 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He was serving as a squad leader at the time of his death.
