SGT Alessandro L. Plutino

A native of Pitman, New Jersey, Sergeant Alessandro L. Plutino died 8 August 2011, of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Plutino enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in August 2006. After completing his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

SGT Plutino graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program in February 2007 and was assigned as a rifleman and team leader in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served until his death.
