A native of Mesquite, Texas, Staff Sergeant Jeremie S. Border died 1 September 2012, of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Border enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 2006. After completing his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
SSG Border graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2009 and was assigned as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant to 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Okinawa, Japan, where he served until his death.
