SGT Tanner S. Higgins

A native of Yantis, Texas, Sergeant Tanner S. Higgins died 14 April 2012, when he was struck by enemy small arms fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Logar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Higgins enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in October 2007. He served for five years with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

SGT Higgins graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program in July 2008 and was assigned as a rifleman, grenadier, automatic rifleman, and team leader in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served until his death.
