A resident of Simi Valley, California, Sergeant First Class Stephen B. Cribben was killed on 4 November 2017 in Logar Province, Afghanistan, while supporting Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.
Cribben enlisted in the Army in November 2002 as a Military Policeman. After initial training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he served with Military Police units in Korea and at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, deploying to Egypt, Afghanistan, and Iraq. In 2010, Cribben transferred to the U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder, Provost Marshal’s Office. After completing the Special Forces Qualification Course in December 2014, he was assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, Colorado, as a Special Forces Communications Sergeant.
SFC Cribben was a Senior Communications Sergeant in 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, when he died of wounds sustained during combat operations.
