Born in Sarrat, Northern Luzon, Philippines, Sergeant First Class Reymund R. Transfiguracion died on 12 August 2018 from wounds sustained in action on 7 August 2018 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, while supporting Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.
Transfiguracion enlisted in the Army in 2001 as a Motor Transport Operator in the Hawaii Army National Guard and deployed to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in 2005. He transitioned to active duty in 2008, deploying to Iraq in 2008 and the Philippines in 2010. In 2015, Transfiguracion graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course as a Special Forces Engineer Sergeant and was assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
SFC Transfiguracion was on patrol with Afghan Commandos when he was fatally wounded by an improvised explosive device.
